  • Notes or labels related to subscriptions

This data is stored only to provide the functionality of the Service. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any financial or subscription information displayed in the Service, including calculated totals, summaries, and analytics. All such information is derived solely from data you provide and is not verified against any external source or financial account.

Usage Data

We collect limited application usage information such as:

  • Screens visited

This information helps improve reliability and usability of the Service.

Device and Technical Information

Technical information is collected automatically, including:

  • Device type and model

  • Push notification tokens
  • IP address

Push notification tokens are used solely to deliver renewal reminders and other notifications you have enabled. They are not shared with advertising platforms. You can manage or disable push notifications at any time through your device's notification settings. IP addresses are collected as part of standard server logging and used for security, fraud prevention, and service diagnostics.

When you access our website at theknownapp.com, we and our service providers may use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to collect information about your browsing activity. We use these technologies to:

  • Maintain session state and authentication
  • Analyze website traffic and usage patterns
  • Improve website performance and usability

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our website. Our mobile application does not use browser cookies.

2. How We Use Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Manage user accounts
  • Store and display subscription tracking information
  • Send renewal reminders and service-related notifications
  • Improve application performance and reliability
  • Diagnose errors and maintain system security
  • Provide user support
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Send you service-related communications, including renewal reminders, security notices, and account updates

We do not sell personal information to advertisers or third parties.

Marketing Communications

We may send you promotional or marketing communications about the Service. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us at [email protected]. You cannot opt out of transactional service-related emails (such as renewal reminders and account security notices) while your account is active.

Aggregate and De-Identified Data

We may use aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified data — which cannot reasonably be used to identify you — for any business purpose, including analytics, product development, and reporting. This Policy does not restrict our use of de-identified or aggregate data.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on certain third-party service providers to operate the Service. These providers only receive information necessary to perform their services. We require our service providers to handle your information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy law.

Analytics

We use PostHog to collect usage analytics that help us understand how the app is used. Analytics data may be associated with your account or a pseudonymous identifier and includes interactions such as screens visited and features used. If you prefer not to have your usage data collected, you may contact us at [email protected] to request opt-out where technically feasible.

Error Monitoring

We use Sentry to detect and diagnose application errors. Sentry may receive limited technical data including device information, app state at the time of an error, and a pseudonymous user identifier.

Payments

Paid subscriptions are processed by:

  • Apple — In-App Purchases
  • Google — Play Purchases
  • RevenueCat — receives purchase history and a user identifier to manage subscription entitlements across platforms
  • Stripe — in applicable contexts

Payment card information is handled entirely by these providers and is not stored by Brisky Business, LLC.

Infrastructure

The Service is hosted on infrastructure provided by Heroku (Salesforce). Your data is stored on servers located in the United States.

Artificial Intelligence Processing

Certain features of the Service use Anthropic's AI API to assist with categorizing subscription services. When this feature is used, the subscription name and category metadata you have entered may be transmitted to Anthropic's API for processing. We do not transmit financial amounts, notes, or account identifiers to Anthropic. Anthropic does not use data submitted via its API to train its models. You may review, modify, or override any AI-generated categorization at any time within the application.

Brand Metadata

We may use third-party services to retrieve brand logos or metadata (such as a company name or icon) associated with subscription services users track. These requests transmit only the subscription name or domain, not your account information or financial data.

4. Legal Disclosures

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests, such as subpoenas, court orders, or government requests. We may also disclose information when we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law or legal process
  • Protect and defend the rights or property of Brisky Business, LLC
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing or fraud in connection with the Service
  • Protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public
  • Protect against legal liability

Where permitted by law, we will attempt to notify you of such requests prior to disclosure.

5. Business Transfers

If Brisky Business, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice within the Service before your personal information becomes subject to a different privacy policy. You may contact us at [email protected] with any questions about such a transfer.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the Service:

  • Account and subscription data — retained for the duration of your account, and removed within 30 days of account deletion
  • Usage and analytics data — retained for up to 12 months, after which it is aggregated or deleted
  • Error and diagnostic data — retained for up to 90 days
  • Server logs (including IP addresses) — retained for up to 90 days for security and diagnostic purposes

We may retain certain information beyond these periods where required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect user information, including encrypted transmission (TLS) and hashed password storage. However, no system can guarantee complete security, and we cannot ensure the absolute security of data transmitted to the Service.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law, including by email to the address associated with your account.

8. User Rights and Account Deletion

Depending on where you reside, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Update or correct your account information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data

Certain in-app data export features (such as CSV export) may be limited to paid subscriptions; however, we will provide access to your personal data upon request as required by applicable law, regardless of your subscription status.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30–45 days).

Account Deletion and Data Removal

You may delete your account and associated personal data at any time. Account deletion may be performed directly within the application through the Delete Account option in the settings screen, or by submitting a request to [email protected].

When an account deletion request is received, we will remove your personal information and associated subscription data from active systems within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud prevention purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected].

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know — You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to Delete — You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Correct — You may request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing — We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. You do not need to opt out, but you may contact us to confirm this.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

The categories of personal information we collect include: identifiers (email address, IP address), commercial information (subscription tracking data including amounts and billing dates), internet or network activity (usage and device data), and inferences drawn from this information (subscription categories).

Sensitive Personal Information

Under the CPRA, certain data qualifies as "sensitive personal information" and receives heightened protections. Subscription amounts and financial data you enter into the Service may qualify as sensitive financial information. We use this data solely to provide the Service to you. We do not sell, share, or use sensitive personal information for any purpose beyond what is necessary to provide the requested service.

Shine the Light

California Civil Code §1798.83 permits California residents to request information about personal information disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes and therefore do not maintain a list of such disclosures. You may still contact us at [email protected] with any related inquiries.

California Minors (Business and Professions Code §22581)

If you are a California resident under the age of 18 and a registered user of the Service, you may request removal of content or data associated with your account by contacting us at [email protected]. We will honor such requests to the extent required by applicable law, subject to our data retention obligations.

To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "California Privacy Request." We will verify your identity before processing your request and respond within 45 days.

11. International Users, Data Transfers, and Additional Rights

The Service is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Some of our third-party service providers (including PostHog, Sentry, and Anthropic) may process data on servers located outside the United States. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers.

Do Not Track

We do not currently alter our data collection or processing practices in response to browser or device "Do Not Track" signals, as there is no uniform standard for how such signals should be interpreted. We will revisit this position if a uniform standard is established.

GDPR and EEA/UK/Swiss Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent laws, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Our legal basis for processing your personal data is primarily: (a) performance of the contract between you and us (providing the Service); (b) our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service; and (c) where required, your consent.

Automated Decision-Making: Certain features of the Service use automated systems, including AI, to suggest subscription categories. These automated suggestions do not produce legal or similarly significant effects on you and are provided solely for convenience. You may review, modify, or override any automated categorization at any time within the application, as provided under GDPR Article 22.

To exercise your GDPR rights or for any privacy-related inquiries, contact us at [email protected].

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email (at the address associated with your account) or through a prominent notice within the application prior to the changes taking effect. The effective date at the top of this document will be updated to reflect the date of the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
